On The Bench

Characters on the Bench

If you could be in a movie or tv show – which would it be and who should play you?
  • Terry Ambrose:

Alexandra Atwood: I’d totally be someone like Jennifer Shannon in Hallmark’s Garage Sale Mysteries. It would be awesome to have someone cool like Jaeda Lily Miller play me. She’s had years of experience as Allie, Nathan Grant’s niece on When Calls the Heart

  • Nancy J. Cohen:

Marla Vail: I’d be in a Hallmark mystery movie series. As for actors, here’s a list of possible candidates that I’ve created: Shenae Grimes-Beech, Italia Ricci, Taylor Cole, Lyndsy Fonseca, Erica Dorrance, Zooey Deschanel, and Autumn Reeser. I’ve seen a few of them in Hallmark movies and others in series that I’ve liked.

  • Debra H. Goldstein:

RahRah: There are a lot of movies with cats – The Three Lives of Thomasina, Garfield: The Movie, Puss and Boots, and The Aristocrats come to mind, but it would probably be a remake of That Darn Cat because in it a Siamese cat who looks a lot like me helps solve a bank robbery. Because it will be a remake, there’s only one cat that should be cast in the lead role: ME!

  • Cheryl Hollon:

Miranda Trent here from the Paint & Shine Mysteries:
I’d love to make an appearance in The Brokenwood Mysteries as a killer this time! It’d be such fun to show off my dark side. And if Jenna Ortega could play me? Well, I’d be over the moon (and maybe just a little starstruck).

  • Maggie Toussaint:

Tabby Quigsly of A Magic Candle Shop Mystery series: I would like to do a remake of the TV show “I Dream of Jeanie” and have the starring role. I have recently accepted that I have the powers of a witch, and now I’d like to own it publicly.

  • Lois Winston:

Anastasia Pollack: Bewitched, either the movie or TV show because who wouldn’t want those kinds of powers, even I’d only be acting? My author insists that Tina Fey would be the perfect actress to play me, no matter the role. I can’t disagree. Tina, if you’re reading this, let’s talk.

From mysteries to rom-coms and cats with Hollywood aspirations to snarky stars with perfect comedic timing, our characters all have their own ideas about what movies they should be in and who should play them. If Hollywood came knocking on your door, what movie would you choose to be in and who would play you? Leave your comments in the...well, comments!

  1. I would be Kathleen Kelly in You’ve Got Mail because I’m a hopeless romantic and loved this movie and the way they were business competitors/enemies. They showed in the end that love conquers all. This was really an entertaining, fun post learning who all the authors would choose. I’m with you on the Hallmark movies all the way.
