On The Bench

We’re talking about the magic of music — name that theme song!

If your sleuth had a theme song that played every time they encountered an important clue or cracked a case, what would it be?
  • Terry Ambrose:

You might expect Rick Atwood and his daughter Alex to disagree completely on this one. After all, Rick is an adult, and Alex is, well, not. But Alex grew up listening to rock-and-roll on her dad’s knee as he worked late into the night. So, on this one, they can agree that the opening bars of “Gimme Shelter” by the Rolling Stones fit the bill. And just in case you absolutely, positively, gotta, gotta hear it, here’s a link to the official YouTube lyrics video. And, of yeah, Rick and Alex are ready to solve that crime!

  • Nancy J. Cohen:

I don’t have an answer for this one as I’m not a big music fan. I like the beauty of silence.

  • Debra H. Goldstein:

If Sarah Blair had a theme song for when she encountered an important clue or cracked a case, it would be Celebration. Not only would she be celebrating what she’s just done, but as her character evolves in the series, she’s celebrating her personal growth.

  • Cheryl Hollon:

“Blue Moon of Kentucky Keep on Shining” would be my choice for Miranda Trent of the Paint & Shine Mysteries.

  • Diane A.S. Stuckart:

Depending on the situation, for Nina Fleet I’d say it’s either Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” or else Katy Perry’s “Firework”

  • Maggie Toussaint:

Definitely “Walking on Sunshine.” That song is upbeat and amazingly fun. It’s hard to feel blue when you hear it.

  • Lois Winston

Henry Higgins singing “By George, she’s got it!” from “The Rain in Spain” in My Fair Lady.

That's it for us! We'd love to hear what your personal theme song would be. Leave us a comment to let us know!

  1. I love to tease my husband and claim “our” songs are BB King’s The Thrill is Gone and Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys’ Faded Love.
