City Lights in St. Petersburg
by Cheryl Hollon

As the holiday season approaches, I’m grateful to live in downtown St. Petersburg, FL. The city shines in so many delightful ways – the lighting of the tree is the start.

Many festive scenes are displayed around the North Straub Park near the waterfront. The figures are colorful, animated, and multicultural. Small children enjoy them and the tiny ones squeal with delight when the figures move.

The trees are lit up all year, but they get an upgrade for the holidays with lights that appear to drip like icicles from the trees. Santa also has a sled with reindeer that makes a great photo op for families.

I love the handmade ornaments that adorn my tree year after year. This one is made from an egg carton, tissue paper and gold rick rack trim. There are warm memories attached to the ones from my children and grandchildren.

Here’s my favorite holiday picture of last year. My husband and I wish you a safe and joyful holiday season. May love and light bless you and yours.

If you’re still looking for gifts, my Webb’s Glass Shop Mysteries are all set along Central Avenue in St. Petersburg. Independent bookstores need your help this season. Buy Local.
