New Kid on the Blog
Do you remember being the new kid at school? You weren’t sure how to get around the building. You were sure your mother sent you to school in an outfit none of the other kids would be caught dead in. You were petrified no one would ask you to sit with them at lunch or, if someone did, it would be the school nerd. That’s how I feel today.
I’m the new kid on the blog. My stomach is tied in knots. Partly because I’m shy, but mostly, because I’m in awe of the other writers on this blog. They all write books I enjoy reading – in fact, I read some of their works before I ever met them.
The first time I saw Maggie, she was a panelist at Murder in the Magic City, which I was attending as a reader. She impressed me so much, I bought her book. I got to know Nancy during a Sleuthfest luncheon and then attended one of her workshops. I came home with two of her Bad Hair Day books. Diane moderated a panel I was on a few years ago and I got to reciprocate the favor the following year at Sleuthfest. And yes, more books for my TBR shelf. I honestly can’t recall which conference I met Cheryl at, but it doesn’t matter because I’d already read the first few books in her Glass Shop Mystery series. I know exactly when I met Terry. It was at Killer Nashville and she was up for an award for an anthology. She won, beating the likes of Laurie King and Jeff Deaver.
Even though I can be described by the words judge, lawyer, wife, mother of four – including twins, author, and civic volunteer, writing today’s blog, I have the same butterflies as my protagonist, Sarah Blair, when she thinks about cooking in One Taste Too Many, the first book in my new Kensington cozy series.
For culinary challenged Sarah Blair, there’s only one thing scarier than cooking from scratch—murder!
Sarah knew starting over would be messy. But things fall apart completely when her ex drops dead, seemingly poisoned by her twin sister’s award-winning rhubarb crisp. Now, with RahRah, her Siamese cat, wanted by the woman who broke up her marriage and her sister wanted by the police for murder, Sarah needs to figure out the right recipe to crack the case before time runs out. Unfortunately, for a gal whose idea of good china is floral paper plates, catching the real killer and living to tell about it could mean facing a fate worse than death—being in the kitchen!
