What’s Cooking with Maggie by Maggie Toussaint
I’m cooking up books this summer!
Vacation Appetizer. Summer used to signal a time to slow down and smell the ocean breeze. These days, writers are making tracks everywhere during the summer to connect with readers. Through Southeast Mystery Writers of America, I’ll be at reader functions in Columbia, SC, and in Atlanta, GA, this summer and fall, so I hope to see you there. More info about those travels here.
Salad Days of Summer. This week of June 14 heralds the beginning of the end of my fantastic Great Escapes Blog Tour for Confound It, book 5 in my Dreamwalker Mystery series. This book is available in print and digital format from most vendors. If you haven’t checked out the tour, I hope you will click over to the tour page and see the behind-the-scenes character posts, interviews, and reviews.
Hearty Editing Barbecue. Edits continue on Dreamwalker 7 (DW7), the last book in the series (book 6, Dreamed It, is slated for a June 2019 release). DW7 is the last book I’m planning in the series, though I may write novellas or short stories about Baxley, her family, and her dreamwalking world. There are the requisite murder victims in DW7, but the series arc called for a bigger paranormal event. Something terrible has happened, and the separation between realms has been breached.
Dreamsicle Reader Dessert. I’m looking to readers for title suggestions for DW7. The previous books in this series are named: Gone and Done It, Bubba Done It, Doggone It, Dadgummit, Confound It, and Dreamed It. All Dreamwalker titles end with the word “it.” One U.S. commenter chosen by random.org will win a Maggie Toussaint ebook. If your suggested title is chosen (and you’re the first to mention it on this post) for the book title, you’ll be credited in the book, and you’ll have your choice of the print or digital copy of DW7.
Have a great summer of fun and books!

Dagnabbit, Maggie only one more Dreamwalker?!? I thoroughly enjoyed Confound It and recommend it to anyone who likes their mysteries with a touch of paranormal.
Dagnabbit is right! However, there are 7 books in this series total, which is a goodly number. The book that needs a name is the 2020 book. The 2019 book, Dreamed It, is already named and awaiting copy edits at Camel Press.
Dreamwalker is a great series. I enjoy the paranormal aspects, which is my favorite genre. Being able to escape into Baxley’s spirit world is very entertaining. Bittersweet that there’s only one more.
I love the old wording used in the titles.
Book titles for DW7: Gosh darn it!; Dadburn it!; Depooperit!
Very nice, Allyson. I’ll add these to the list. Thanks for your comments about the series!
The Return of It. (Wasn’t “it” a monster in some movie?) Then Came It. Crashed It. Spirited It. Dueled It. Hang It. I love your series but understand the need to move on.
I like these, Nancy. I will add them to the list. Thanks for the suggestions!
I am all out of It, apparently– though I like the suggestions tossed around here.
Tina, You made a suggestion even though you didn’t notice: “All Out of It” — it’s something I haven’t considered, but I like it!!!
Titles are my downfall. I’m at a loss beyond “Out of It”
I’m struggling with a title for my 7th Mapleton book, so I feel your pain.
Heck With It, or Not It .. I’m glad to know there are at least two more coming! Love the series. 🙂
Thanks, Loraine! I’m appreciative of your suggestions. I’ll add them to my list of possibilities!
So many possibilities! I like Delivered It or Imagined It
Those are great choices, Sharon. Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll add them to my list!
Love the series, Maggie, whatever name it goes by
Thank you, Karla!
When Mom was losing it with us kids she’d holler Dingbust it! We knew we were dead then.
Wow! I’ve never heard that phrase, Pat. Thanks! I’ll add it to my list.
Finish It? Seems appropriate for the last of a series and also fits well with mystery titles. Titles are hard sometimes! Good luck 🙂
Thanks for the suggestion, Kairee! I’m adding Finished It to the list (all my other titles are past tense).
I love this see.I just finished book 1and now bought book 2. My name for book7 is ” now you done it ! “
Thanks for commenting, Rosemary. I’m glad you’re on the series train with my dreamwalker Baxley Powell!
