Characters on the Bench

What is your favorite memory from your stories?
  • Terry Ambrose:

Alexandra Atwood from the Seaside Cove Bed & Breakfast Mysteries: It was the moment I heard noises coming from our attic a few Christmases ago and decided to investigate. I honestly wasn’t prepared for what I found—my dad and Marquetta were up there. Along. Kissing! I screamed so loud I probably woke up the whole entire B&B. But it was totally a happy scream and now that Marquetta is my mom, that memory has become one of my favorites since we moved to Seaside Cove. It’s kind of the perfect example of how sometimes the best surprises are the ones you never see coming.

  • Nancy J. Cohen:

Marla Vail: My wedding to Dalton has been the most special event, then the birth of our son, Ryder, although my readers weren’t present for that occasion. Marrying Dalton was the best thing that’s happened to me. I never thought I’d find someone again after divorcing my first husband, but Dalton and I met over one of his homicide cases, and then we started dating. It wasn’t an easy relationship to start, but we found our way, and now it’s as though we’ve been together forever. It helps a great deal to work as a team when a murder case erupts, and I appreciate how Dalton values my opinions.

  • Debra H. Goldstein:

Sarah Blair: When I had to step into my twin, Chef Emily’s shoes, and prepare and explain a dish during a cooking exhibition — I’ll never forget making Jell-O in a Can!

  • Cheryl Hollon:

Savannah Webb here from the Webb’s Glass Shop Mysteries:
My fondest memory is watching my father teach students the delicate art of stained glass. He had the patience of a monk and the soul of an artist. Every time I guide a new student, I feel him there beside me.

  • Maggie Toussaint:

River Holloway: As an amateur sleuth, I loved, loved, loved the food fight at a funeral in “Bubba Done It”. Attendees were appalled, outraged, and generally disgusted with my brother-in-law’s behavior. I thought it was fine entertainment of supposed adults pushed to their limits and acting out.

  • Lois Winston:

Anastasia Pollack: Without giving away any spoilers, that would have to be when my author decided she needed to counter all the murder and mayhem she’d dumped on me by introducing some romance into my life. Enter photojournalist and possible spy Zack Barnes. (In truth, I’d threatened to go on strike and take the other characters with me if she refused.)

From food to romance, our characters have a variety of favorite memories. What about you? What are some of your favorite memories? We'd love to have you share!
