Mystery Getaways: Where Our Sleuths Would Love to Solve Their Next Case

Your author has decided to send you on a trip (where, of course, you’ll get sucked into solving a murder.) Where should it be?
  • Terry Ambrose:

Jade Cavendish of the Beachtown Detective Agency says, “Hawaii! As a matter of fact, I asked him to send me there after my friend Gina Rose told me she was going. I figured it would be a great vacation because Gina knows how to travel in style. On the other hand, Gina also seems to be learning how to get into trouble, so there’s also a chance I’ll be there to bail her out.”

  • Nancy J. Cohen:

Marla Vail, hairstylist and salon owner sleuth, would love to laze on a tropical beach. Even though she lives in South Florida, she doesn’t have time to relax and unwind. She’d love to go on a cruise, but … oops… been there, done that in Killer Knots. A staycation at a local Florida beach resort might be the best option now that she and hubby have kids.

  • Debra H. Goldstein:

From Sarah Blair: Yay! I’m going to Sydney, Australia. Because I’ve always been fascinated by the opera house there, my author, Debra H. Goldstein, has not only booked us a tickets for the trip, we’re going to take the behind the scenes tour. They say the tour ends with a light breakfast which isn’t much to write home about, but as everyone knows I’ll be thrilled because I don’t have to make it. After all, I’m more frightened of being in the kitchen than murder.

  • Cheryl Hollon:

Hi, I’m Savannah Webb, proud owner of Webb’s Glass Shop in sunny downtown St. Petersburg, FL. When my author decided I should pinch-hit for an ailing glassblower on a cruise ship, I said, “Twist my arm!” I mean, who says no to glassblowing at sea, tropical breezes, and quality time with my boyfriend’s family? As a bonus, his cousin Ian was coming along for the ride—until he mysteriously didn’t. One minute he’s there, the next…poof. So much for smooth sailing! Looks like I’ll be swapping sunscreen for sleuthing gear as I dive into yet another mystery.

  • Maggie Toussaint:

Tabby Winslow, amateur sleuth of the A Magic Candle Shop Mystery series, is crossing her fingers and hoping her author Valona Jones (aka Maggie Toussaint) sends her to Charleston, SC. For almost 300 years Savannah and Charleston have been sister port cities but Tabby’s never been. Plus, with Charleston less than two hours away, Tabby could easily come home to her place on Bristol Street if she got too low on energy.

  • Lois Winston

Anastasia Pollack, reluctant amateur sleuth of the Anastasia Pollack Crafting Mysteries: No matter where my author sends me, I know I’ll find myself sucked into murder and mayhem. So I wonder if it really matters where it happens. However, like my author, top of my bucket list would be seeing the terra cotta warriors in China. I’m not holding my breath, though. Or maybe I’d have to. Too many people smoke in China, and also like my author, I’m allergic to tobacco smoke. Amazing how Lois has imbued me with so many of her own characteristics, isn’t it?

From tropical beaches to bustling cities, our characters have dreamed up some unforgettable travel plans—even if they come with a side of murder! Whether it’s glassblowing on a cruise ship, exploring ancient wonders, or enjoying a low-key staycation, the possibilities are endless (and a little dangerous). If your life were a mystery novel, where would your author send you on a thrilling adventure? We can’t wait to hear your destination!
