Let’s Talk with Tina Whittle
A Little Something
by Tina Whittle
It’s December 1st! And you know what that means – time to get serious about holiday shopping! In our home, that means dragging out an entire closet’s worth of wrapping paper and glitter tape and green bows and gold bows and red bows and white bows…
Oh, so many bows at our house! And smiles.
The Yuletide season encourages our better angels, the ones that give and receive in grateful appreciation. As you choose gifts for your loved ones this season, perhaps you’ll join me (and thousands of others) in Shopping Small. Last week, Small Business Saturday https://www.sba.gov/about-sba/sba-initiatives/small-business-saturday encouraged millions of Americans to spend their dollars within their own communities, supporting not only the local economy, but also their neighbors.
Please consider the writers you love to read as a part of your community, especially if you get their books through a local bookstore or library. Books make fantastic gifts, as I am sure you know, and most authors are more than happy to make the gift personal through an inscription. Seek out the authors in your area this holiday season, and I’m sure you’ll find something worth sharing under the Christmas tree.
And if you’re feeling especially generous, consider gifting your favorite author with a review on Amazon or Goodreads or whatever readers’ site you choose. A review is a simple, free, and very much appreciated way to let an author know that their work matters to you.
However you celebrate this season, thank you for being a part of Booklover’s Bench – we couldn’t do it without you!
And, while you’re here, be sure to click over to our December contest page. We have a $25 Gift Card available to one lucky winner. Enter Contest Here.

I’ll add my thanks to Tina’s. All of us her on “the bench” love our readers!
Indeed we do!
I’m all in favor of giving books for Christmas! Happy Reading, everyone!
Happy reading to you too!
I love books as Christmas gifts!
Me too!
I always have books on my Christmas list – and I agree, there’s no better gift that a review (and it doesn’t cost a thing!)
Marvelous and free makes a great combination!
As I finish reading a book, I submit a review at Word of Mouth at BookReporter. And I agree that books make great gifts for any occasion. I keep a book started all the time and often read while riding my stationary bike.
Thank you for taking your time to share your review — it is much appreciated!
They’re good for giving, even better for getting!
