National Chocolate Mousse Day
Chocolate Treats are a Must-Eat Dessert

Today is National Chocolate Mousse Day. I am a fan of this dessert that’s like a frothier version of chocolate pudding and an easy treat to consume that’s not overly sweet or filling. It allegedly developed in France and became popular in the U.S. during the 1930s. For some reason, I prefer ordering this at a restaurant rather than making it at home.
Instead, I offer you my recipe for Chocolate Pie (below), which is the perfect finale for a summer meal. Its melt-in-the-mouth texture and smooth chocolatey flavor are sure to please your palate. You can make this dish ahead and refrigerate it until ready to serve.
What is your favorite chocolate dessert? Leave a comment and I’ll enter you into a drawing for a free eBook copy of A Bad Hair Day Cookbook, an award-winning collection of my favorite recipes narrated by my hairstylist sleuth, Marla Vail.

Chocolate Pie
Ingredients
1-1/2 cups 2% reduced fat milk
3.9 oz. box Instant Chocolate Pudding
6 oz. chocolate or graham cracker pie crust
2 cups (8 oz.) thawed frozen whipped topping
Directions
Pour milk into a large bowl. Add pudding mix. Whisk until blended. Spread some of the mixture on the bottom of the pie crust. Then fold 1 cup of whipped topping into the remaining pudding in the bowl. Spoon this mixture over the layer in the pie crust. Spread the remaining whipped topping on top. Refrigerate until served. Serves 8 to 10.

Most people seem to like chocolate mousse. Thanks for stopping by!
With few exceptions, I’m a fan of chocolate anything, as is Anastasia Pollack, my reluctant amateur sleuth. We both believe chocolate is one of the major food groups. ;-D
Chocolate does have its devoted fans. I’d rather have a slice of fruit pie or peach cobbler rather than chocolate cake, although I like chocolate mousse and creme brulee.
I like French Silk Pie with nuts and caramel. Deborah deborahortega229@yahoo.com
Sounds delish!
Oh, I love chocolate so much I can’t decide on a favorite, And chocolate should definitely be a food group!
It comes from the cocoa bean so maybe we can consider chocolate a fruit and veggie category. Dark chocolate has health benefits.
Tuxedo cake
I’ve not tried this one before, sounds intriguing.
I like French Silk pie. Deborah
I haven’t ever had this one, either. Sounds good.
Chocolate mousse is hard to beat! If I’m going for broke I’d choose Mexican chocolate cake.
How is that different from regular chocolate cake?
It has cinnamon in it.
That sounds good.
Chocolate, mmmmmm! I love dark chocolate almond butter cups (like peanut butter cups, except with almond butter inside) – I think they are my favorite!
I am a fan of Reese’s peanut butter cups. Where do I find yours?
My favorite chocolate dessert jot so happens to be chocolate mousse. I’m not a fan of chocolate pudding, but chocolate mousse is a better version of chocolate pudding.
I feel mousse is lighter than pudding but I like them both.
Congrats to Mary C. who has won an ebook copy of A Bad Hair Day Cookbook. I’ll be in touch via email. Thanks to all of you who commented!
