National Fluffernutter Day

October 8, 2026

Today is National Fluffernutter Day: I am a big fan and will celebrate the day with a giant peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwich. Certain foods can transport us through time with one bite. For me, the Fluffernutter is one of them.

Peanut butter. Marshmallow creme. Gently toasted bread. No fancy ingredients, no complicated recipe, and no reason to wait for a special occasion. National Fluffernutter Day gives us permission to indulge in this nostalgic sandwich and, even better, to pair it with a cozy mystery.

There’s something satisfying about settling into a comfortable chair with a Fluffernutter on a little plate, a cup of coffee nearby, and a copy of one of my Webb’s Glass Shop Mysteries within reach. The combination feels just right for a leisurely afternoon in Florida, where the sunshine may be blazing outside, but inside, we can create our own cozy pocket.

In the Webb’s Glass Shop Mysteries, Savannah Webb owns a stained-glass shop in downtown St. Petersburg. Her days are filled with beautiful pieces of colored glass, creative students, friendly customers, and the occasional mystery that refuses to stay out of her business.

Picture Savannah taking a break between customers, enjoying a sweet, sticky bite. Of course, if Savannah is involved, that peaceful moment probably won’t last long. Someone will discover something suspicious. A customer will have a secret. And sooner or later, Savannah will find herself following clues instead of enjoying her snack.

That’s the charm of a cozy mystery. There’s danger, certainly, but there’s also community, familiar places, good food, and those little moments of comfort that make us want to stay awhile. Just remember to keep a napkin handy. Because marshmallow creme and mysterious fingerprints are two things you probably don’t want turning up on the same page.

Have you ever tried a Fluffernutter sandwich? Now would be a great time to try one. I’d love to read your thoughts on this tasty treat!

The characters spend considerable time creating magnificent glass art and also sampling the culinary delights of the downtown waterfront’s foodie landscape. Please buy books locally if you can. 1. Never tried a Fluffernutter and never will. I’m an outlier–one of few people in the world who absolutely detests peanut butter. Even the thought of it triggers my gag reflexes.

  2. oh my gosh; it’s been SO long since I had a fluffernutter sandwich, I’d completely forgotten about it! I can no longer eat bread or sugar, so it’s out for me, though I appreciate the opportunity to reminisce 😍

  3. I love the cozy worlds that authors create. They give me warm fuzzies of a time long ago when I grew up and it really did take a village to raise, well, everyone. Have never tried a fluffernutter sandwich but it sure sounds tasty!
